When Lilli from Bella Calla came to me and asked if I wanted to photograph her wedding canopies as a styled shoot I immediately said yes. It didn’t even hit me until later that I forgot to ask a bunch of other questions. For instance, how many canopies? Is there a color pallette? What should I be prepared for? This is very unusual for me because I often have 1,000 questions. What can I say? I like to be as prepared as possible before the day of the shoot. However, this says more about my trust in Lilli than it does about me.
If you recall, I worked with Lilli at Wedding Wars and I’ve seen her work firsthand a few times. She’s an “all-in” kind of florist, always pushing her creativity to the max and while I didn’t ask what it was, I knew her inspiration would be out of this world and I was right.
On the day of the shoot, Lilli showed up at Cheesman Park (which, by the way, is a beautiful location for a Denver Wedding) with three different canopy options and a different floral design for each one. Each set up was amazing. She gave 110% again.
Here are some of my favorite images from the day. Make sure to leave me a comment and let me know which one you like best!
Wedding Canopy #1
I loved the benches for this set up as well as how the fabric swayed in the wind. It was very romantic!
Wedding Canopy #2
We set this one up in the pavillion at Cheesman Park. It would be great like this or also outside in a field somewhere. Lilli used my favorite flower in this set up, the protea pincushion (the pointy orange flowers). I really loved the green vines, I have no idea what they’re called, good things I’m not a florist!
Wedding Canopy #3
This was by far my favorite setup. The wind was blowing lightly and moving the fabric ever so gently, the flower petals were so romantic, the floral design was to die for. I can’t rave about it enough.
This shoot was a blast and I’m honored to have been a part of it.
Side note: if you love these canopies and you’re in the Denver area you can rent them directly from Bella Calla!
