One of my favorite things about being a wedding photographer is that I get to photograph love stories. While I don’t believe in fairy tales, I can’t help but get all teary eyed as I watch the love of my couples unfold right before my eyes. Some relationships are more complicated than others, but each one is unique. It’s kind of like a bottle of granache. No two are the same but I’ve never met one that I didn’t love. Annika and Mark’s story was no exception.
They met in Colorado while working at the Boulder Running Company years ago. Since then, they’ve moved to Seattle but decided that a destination wedding back where it all started would be perfect. They chose the Meadows at Marshdale in Evergreen, Colorado as their wedding venue. They really loved the idea of being in the mountains when they said their vowels.
I’m not going to lie, the Meadows at Marshdale is a beautiful location. It’s quiet, has amazing views of the mountains and has Colorado written all over it, but what really made Annika and Mark’s wedding was all of the personal touches they added.
Annika walked down the aisle in her hiking boots, carrying one of the most beautiful, colorful wedding bouquets I have ever seen. They included their Golden Retreiver, Sidney, in their wedding day, as well as friends and family from all around the world. They opted for a brunch of pancakes, sausage and mimosos. They filled mason jars with pictures of their childhood and lives together. They choose a donut tower instead of a wedding cake. They even had a first photo booth instead of first dances. Their wedding was perfect, because it was perfectly them.
Annika and Mark, thank you so much for choosing me as your wedding photographer. I wish you both the best of luck in life and love, and ask that you please give Sidney as scratch on the head for me.
