Kayla is from Alaska and AJ is from Kansas. They decided on a destination wedding in Westcliffe, Colorado. It was an absolutely perfect location, particularly because Kayla and AJ met last year at a Christian summer camp in Westcliffe.
AJ decided to propose over spring break at his family’s home. He took Kayla outside after dinner to a romantic setting of Christmas lights, a bonfire, two chairs and his guitar. He sang a song he had written just for her, ending with the line “will you marry me?”… She obviously said yes!
Their families traveled from all over (even Alaska) to see these two get married in the Sangre de Cristo Mennonite Church in Westcliffe, Colorado. Now they’re off to start their life in Wichita, Kansas where AJ is starting his dream job (a carpentry apprenticeship) and Kayla hopes to start her career in chemistry.
Kayla and AJ’s wedding was my first destination wedding here in Colorado. I didn’t get to meet either of them in person until their wedding day and was pretty nervous about it, but everything worked out great. They were funny, easy going and we had a lot of fun.
I received a Facebook post a few days after the wedding from Kayla – “You made the pictures so much more fun, and did such a great job! If I ever know people getting married in Colorado I’m sending them your way”.
It’s always a great feeling to know your hard work and talent is appreciated!
Here are a few more of my favorites pictures!!
