Goal #2: Volunteering for Safe Haven Rescue, Angels with Paws and…
So you know the saying “when it rains, it pours”. I swear, it’s absolutely true. For years I’ve been trying to donate my photography skills to animal shelters and rescue organizations. But it never really worked out. Then all of a sudden, BAM!, I’m photographing rescue dogs and cats for three different organizations. Funny how that works.
In the last month I’ve started photographing the cats at Angels with Paws in Golden and the dogs with Safe Haven Rescue in Boulder. Starting next week I’ll also be photographing the cats and dogs at Life is Better Rescue (which is who we’re fostering Luke through).
So far, I’m really enjoying it. Anyone can tell you that great photos matter when you’re trying to sell something, and while these animals aren’t being “sold” like merchandise, a great photo will catch someone’s attention and make them think “hmm… is now the time to adopt?” And that’s where I come in. I also love just hanging out with the furrballs, giving the kitties ear scratches and the puppies belly rubs. It’s also a great way to get my “must adopt another animal” fix in. Christian appreciates that.
Anyways, volunteering for an organization that helps animals was one of my 101 Goals!
Here are some of my favorite images that I’ve taken so far:
