Felix and Erica are rock climbers. They met rock climbing at a local Pennsylvania crag, they got engaged halfway up Pingora, a mountain in the Wind River Range and they planned their wedding at one of their favorite rock climbing destinations, the New River Gorge of West Virginia. Besides rock climbing, they enjoy traveling, cooking, wrestling and going on adventures. They’re a lot like Christian and me.
Felix and Erica were regular climbing partners of ours when we lived back east. We’ve climbed with them at the New River Gorge on a number of occasions and they’ve visited us twice here in Colorado. So, it was an honor that when they invited us to their wedding, they also asked if I’d be available to photograph it.
Their wedding was a three day affair at the Confluence Resort. This location was perfect as it offered family members houses on site and climbing partners a place to pitch their tent. I was even able to bring Savannah dog. So yea, it was awesome. Friday was a night for entertaining human tricks and outdoor games, on Saturday Felix and Erica had a short ceremony, complete with a shot of whiskey, and a super fun reception. Sunday was brunch and then I took them over to the New River Gorge proper for a couple’s session in their wedding attire. Did I mention this wedding was awesome? See for yourself.
Are you having a New River Gorge Wedding? If so, you should know that Rayna McGinnis Photography travels and depending on the time of year and package booked, travel fees may be waved.
