For me, rock climbing is not just something I do. It’s a lifestyle. My entire life revolves around planning trips, when the weather will be at its best and what I can do in the meantime to climb harder later.
It’s also something I do to be healthy, to relax and to be one with nature. It’s something I do with Christian so that we can have quality time together. It brings adventure into my life and has allowed me to experience places that I would otherwise never even considered going.
I eat to climb better. I sleep to climb better. I live my life to climb better. Christian, my fiancé, does the same.
Having a significant other that enjoys your passion the same way that you do is an incredible thing. It allows you to experience life not just by one another’s side, but together. A client once said to me that there was nothing more incredible to him than watching the love of his life climb up to him at a belay. In that moment, he had the two things he loved most in the world. He said this with tears in his eyes, squeezing the hand of his soon to be wife, knowing that together, they could conquer the world. Or at least any mountain that they wanted to. I knew what he was feeling because I’ve felt it to.
Renee and Wade also feel this connection, this love for climbing and together they make an awesome climbing team. In fact, as soon as we finished the shoot below, they opted to spend the rest of the day climbing in Eldorado Canyon State Park. First, we did an engagement style couple’s shoot and finished it off with Renee jumping back into her wedding dress for a one year anniversary bridal shoot.
As a photographer, I love working with adventurous couples who share the same adventurous lifestyle that I’ve adopted. It doesn’t matter if they climb, ski or kayak, we all view the world in a similar way.
Thank you, Renee and Wade, for coming out to Eldorado Canyon State Park and playing with me!
