Veronica of Mile High Celebrations is a miracle worker. Seriously. She’s saved my butt on quite a few occasions and I highly doubt that she’s ever given less than 100% on a wedding or event. At least not on my watch. Her vendor connections are endless. She has someone for everything. I feel honored to be on that list.
And not only does she have an amazing work ethic and an excellent network of vendors, she is ridiculously creative. Every time I see her she’s working on some awesome DIY wedding project or planning out a creative, one of a kind event. She’s shown up at a styled shoot with baby pine cone hedgehogs. Yes, I said baby pine cone hedgehogs. That actually happened!!
And on top of all of that, she’s very open minded, easy to talk to and is full of great ideas.
I can honestly say that if I had had a Colorado wedding, Veronica would have been my planner. She comes highly recommended and I really can’t say enough good things about her.
When I started up Mile High Celebrations, I wanted to make sure my name didn’t single out any one type of special event. Even though the majority of my business is weddings, I have also done everything from fundraisers, to birthday and graduation parties.
How long have you been in business?
I started up in October of 2010, so 4 years.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I had a major change in my life with the addition of a newborn foster baby. She needed a lot of care that a working mom wouldn’t have been able to provide, so I quit my job in 2009 and stayed home with her. The first year went by quickly because she had so many Drs. visits and we worked towards adopting her. After that I was looking for something to do, but knew going back to my old job was not going to be an option. I had planned weddings and parties for years and years, but never thought it would be possible to do it professionally. After receiving a call from an ex-coworker asking for some help with his wedding plans, I knew that was the career path I wanted to take. I get to spend time with my kids and do the work I love.
What is your primary role in the business?
I am the CEO-Chief Event Organizer.
Can you describe your service and what makes it unique?
I can help plan your event, or I can handle the logistics the day of, or both. My clients all say one thing in common about me – I am down to earth, yet very professional. They find it very easy to talk to me about all sorts of things and not be afraid to ask that “silly question”. I think it might be the Mom in me, lol!
What do you love most about working in the wedding industry?
This is such an important day in the lives of two families. I love putting together all of the pieces to make it a day to celebrate and treasure. Seeing the smiles on the faces of the Bride and Groom. Mom and Dad literally beaming with love and emotion. To know I had a part in making one of the biggest days in anyone’s life a day that they don’t want to end – it’s awesome.
If you could give one piece of advice to couples who are shopping for a wedding planner, what would it be?
Don’t do your shopping based on websites, reviews and pictures. Meet with vendors and see what you think about them in person. You need to feel comfortable and confident that they understand you and what you are wanting.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love to go camping in the mountains. Taking the kids to the lakes and enjoying our beautiful state. I am also a crafty person and like to try making different things. I am experimenting with different types of Origami right now.
What is the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?
I drove a semi for 12 years, ALONE, well, other than my cocker spaniel. It was very risky being just 22 and a single female driver. I have been in some pretty scary places, but also in some absolutely amazing places. My travels took me to all the 48 states, Canada and to the Mexico borders. I haven’t driven for 14 years now and yet still have some of the fondest memories of it.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I want to go to Ireland. I love castles so would make that part of my must see list.
