Visiting The Wild Animal Sanctuary of Keenesburg, Colorado

Normally I keep my blog strictly professional but today I’m making an exception. A few weeks ago I visited one of the most incredible places that I’ve ever been and I really want to share some of the photos with you in hopes that you will venture out to Keenesburg, Colorado to see it for yourself.

As a date day, Christian took me to a place called The Wild Animal Sanctuary. I had no idea it existed, let alone less than an hour drive from our home. The Wild Animal Sanctuary is an organization that rescues wild animals that would otherwise be euthanized. They have lions, tigers, bears, wolves and more.

I know what you’re thinking… it’s like a zoo. NO, it’s not. These animals are wild animals kept in as close to their natural habitat as Colorado will allow them. They have very little interaction with the staff and most of them are in wide open fields. You view them from a high rise walk way where they don’t have to see you (though they can if they want to). It’s amazing.

I can’t wait to go back to see all the big kitties (I love kitties of all sizes!), and the bears. The grizzly bears were hibernating when I was there but I hear they’ll be out around March. I also plan to take my mom and dad when they visit this summer as well as my neice and nephews whenever they get here. Kids, big kids like me, and adults alike will love this place. When we were there we say two lions chasing and playing and all the wolves howling together.

Please visit, make donations, do whatever you can to help this amazing organization!
